PROJECT

APPRAISAL

In this project, line is pretty much used to create the images. From line then it become a shape or its join together and become a texture like the grass, or part of the melodies and also parts of the flowers. Each line has their own character then work together to produce a good composition.

Most of the elements I used here is shape and colour. From the shape I create the images, the flowers, the leaves, the kids, the melody, the stars, everything. After making the shapes then I start to put a colour to make the images more clear. Colour make the adjustment about which images is important, which one stronger and eye catching, and make great definition about what the image or elements work in the composition.

In this project I used contrast colour. With using black as a background and white for the stars, I’m trying to make the kids and the flowers frame stands out. The grass and the melody are lighter than the other colour to give a balance, so not every part is standing out. Here, the emphasis is in the flowers frame, stars, and kids. The frame flower is the image to show the spring. As we know spring is identical with flowers blooming everywhere and colourful. Stars give the dramatic side, like most of the Disney movie or posters. In my opinion, stars identical with fairy tale and pretty stuff, and I personally like stars so I used it in my musical.

About texture, I haven’t used much texture in this project, mostly just plain and soft texture. The only texture I used just the grass texture. With putting together a lot of small lines in some particular order, it becomes a texture. The other texture I used here is the flower texture. Here I just used different colour or gradient colour to make the flowers and the leaves looks more real and alive, so I can create a good effect.

With using all of these elements I hope the viewer can get the rough idea about the musical. This poster also made to attract the attention from the viewer to be curious about the musical, so they will try to see further information about it.

ABOUT THE MUSICAL

1. What kind of music is at your musical?

· Contemporer orchestral music will be in our menu. But don’t worry, it’s not going to be boring or just like that. We promise we will serve something different and spectacular. We will take your heart to flow with our melody to the stars. You are fans of ‘Sounds of Music’, ‘Wizzard of OZ’ ? Then you will love this one.

2. Who goes to your musical?

· This musical is available for anybody from any age. Young, old, kids, teenagers, adult, students, workers, anybody are allowed and must see this.

3. What is the atmosphere like at the musical?

· This musical basically served everything. There will be a love story if you are a romantic person. We also have the sad part which will make you cry, but we also have the fun time which will make you tap your feet and want to dance with us, then ofcourse the funny part to make you laugh. This musical bring a really good message for children and really entertaining.

4. In what kind of venue does it take place?

· This musical will be performed at Prince Theater, 129 Amherst Street, Melbourne.

Formal dresses will be required, drink (wine, champagne,soft drink and juice) and snack will be available.

5. Any other usefull information about your musical?

· Booked your ticket now for the premiere show.

· Ticket will be available from 20^th September 2009 (concession ticket is available).

· Show will start on 5^th November – 10^th December 2009.

NEGATIVE SPACE

Those are some example for the negative space.

Negative space can be found in most of design. Negative space can create story (peter pan poster), emotion or feelings, and also as a relation between one image and others. Negative space can be a place for eyes to rest. Those images use a lot of negative space as a part of the design. The negative space built the atmosphere of the design. It’s also make the main image or images more stand out and make some design more to the point

CONTRAST

There are some good example of contrast

Contrasts can be seen from the diferences of the elements which used. This can be from the colour, sharpened and blurr, size, negative space and busy space, anything. It just need to be obviouse differences. From the example above, we can see really good contrast example. All the poster images above accept the cinderella poster have a really good colour contrast, and for the cinderella poster, we can see the contrasts in the sharp images in the shoes and the letters, and blurr background. We can also see that the background from all of the posters is contrasts with the images. If the background is complicated, then they will have simple images and if the background is simple then the images will have something more. From the wicked poster we can see that the colour contrast can also show character. All of this contrast make the important images more stands out. Contrast also good for advertisement because its more eye catching.
